Every shift is a reminder that behind every call for service is a real person, scared,

frustrated, overwhelmed, or hurting.
I meet people struggling with untreated mental illness who don’t know where to turn.
Families are exhausted from trying to help a loved one battling addiction.
Neighbors who feel like no one is listening.
By the time law enforcement is called, the situation is often already at a breaking point.
And too often, what I see isn’t just criminal behavior, it’s untreated pain.
We can, and we must, step in sooner.
Public safety isn’t just about enforcement. It’s about compassion paired with accountability. It’s about early intervention, accessible behavioral health care, and support systems that prevent crises before they happen.
