Service Member, Detective, and a Ferndale small business owner, Justin Pike, announced today he is running for State Representative to replace Democrat Joe Timmons.

"Service has shaped my life and guides my leadership. For more than 23 years in the military and nearly two decades in law enforcement, I’ve stood beside families in crisis, supported victims, and worked every day to keep our communities safe," said Pike. "As a patrol officer and detective, I meet people on the hardest day of their lives, sitting at kitchen tables with parents who don’t know what to do next, standing with victims who just need someone to hear them, and watching families struggle with problems that quietly grew for years before anyone stepped in. Those moments stay with you."

Pike said it has been these experiences that are his motivation for running for State Representative.

"Every shift is a reminder that behind every call for service is a real person...scared, overwhelmed, frustrated, or hurting," said Pike. "I see untreated mental illness, families exhausted by addiction, and neighbors who feel unheard."

Pike said that by the time law enforcement is called, the situation is often already at a breaking point.

"What I encounter isn’t just crime, it’s untreated pain," said Pike. "We can, and we must, step in sooner. That’s why I’m stepping forward to serve as your State Representative."

Pike said he will make the case to voters that Timmons' voting record shows how disconnected he is from what is happening to Whatcom families.

"Every day I talk with hardworking people who are doing everything right and still falling behind," said Pike. "Parents worried about staying in the communities where their children are growing up, seniors choosing between prescriptions or groceries, and young families wondering if homeownership is still possible. These aren’t political talking points; they’re personal realities. People deserve practical solutions that lower the cost of living, support small businesses, and make it possible to build a future right here at home."

Justin Pike and his wife, Holly, have four children and live in Ferndale. He is a 23-year US Army veteran and still serves in the Army National Guard. He is a detective and a small business owner.
